Welwyn Hatfield Youth Council

The Welwyn Hatfield Youth Council is a body of young people that meet monthly to discuss, debate and action any issues effecting the youth of Welwyn Hatfield.

The Youth Council is somewhere that young people can raise issues and get their views heard by the people that can make a difference.

Representatives from each of the schools, college and the youth community groups bring those issues to the agenda.

Issues are discussed and debated until actions can be found.  It is sometimes necessary that specific issues need a dedicated group of Youth Councillors to look into issues in depth.  The Youth Council form subgroups.  These groups are action-focused groups and look to achieve outcomes.

The Youth Council works in Partnership with many organisations.  These include Welwyn Hatfield Council, Welwyn Hatfield Alliance, schools, Oaklands College, Hertfordshire Youth Forum, Connexions, British Youth Council, UK Youth Parliament, National Health Service, Primary Care Trust, Youth Offending Team, Welwyn Parish Council, and Herts Constabulary.

The list of partners will continue to grow as the Youth Council continues to expand.

The Youth Council believes in youth inclusion and work to achieve this throughout the borough.  Working in partnership to ensure young peoples view are taken onboard.  Youth Councillors sit on many different committees to ensure young people needs and views are taken into account.
