Accessing the scheme
As part of our investigations in to your circumstances, the Housing Options team will carry out a range of financial checks to ensure that you are able to afford renting a home from within the private sector. If these checks show that you have the necessary financial resource to rent in the private sector, but not to save for a deposit, we can progress an application to assist you to secure suitable housing.
What the scheme offers
The scheme provides a guarantee deposit equivalent to one months rent on a property within the private sector. The deposit can be used to cover any damage and/or rent arrears up to the value of the deposit.
If you are in receipt of Housing Benefit, the scheme enables any claims to be fast tracked to prevent rent arrears. Our Officers also provide support to you and your landlord, however we do not manage the tenancy or the property.
